Russian interested in saps, representatives of Slavonia nowhere to be seen

Health tourism should be the locomotive of extending Croatian tourist season 

Kvarner Tourist Board and the Community Health Tourism in CCC participated in the thematic workshop of health tourism within the promotional activities on Russian Federation market and appearances at the trade fair “MoscowMedshow”. But there were no representatives from Slavonia and Baranja.

Off the record, we found out that Bizovac spa and the Special Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation Lipik are in the process of restructuring and privatization and therefore, they are not presented in Moscow.

The workshop was organized by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, Croatian National Tourist Board, Kvarner Tourist Board and AA Travel agencies from Moscow, with the support of the Croatian Embassy in the Russian Federation. Thus, a number of Croatian health institutions, clinics, spas and hoteliers and travel agencies represented and demonstrated the range of its tourism and health services.

“Health tourism is one of the locomotives of extending Croatian tourist season, and Russia is an extremely interesting market for this type of tourism. Led by desire for top quality medical services, an increasing number of affluent Russians have been searching for these services abroad for years. Germany, Israel, Switzerland and Hungary are just some of the countries where Russian tourists go in search for quality medical service. The workshop, which we did in Moscow is only the first step in positioning Croatia as a first choice of destination for Russian tourists and patients, considering the superior quality of Croatian medical services, but also competitive price”.

Support from CCC and CNTB 

The workshop also included a presentation for journalists and partners where PhD. Irena Persic Zivadinov, director of  Kvarner Tourist Board, presented tourist offer of Kvarner with a focus on the health tourism offer and the participants of the workshop from Kvarner, members of the cluster of health tourism in the Kvarner region, consisting of: Thalassotherapy Crikvenica, Selce Spa, Jadranka Hotels Losinj, Veli Losinj Spa, Medico Polyclinic, Special hospital for orthopedics and general surgery, “Dr. Nemec, “Dental Clinic Kalmardent, tourist agency Katarina Line and the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management – Multidisciplinary Study of health tourism.

The presentations of Rajko Ruzicka, director of the CNTB in Moscow and PhD. Marcel Medak, president of the Community Health Tourism in the CCC, have been noticed. Many others also presented their potentials. Some of them are: special hospital NAFTALAN from Ivanic Grad, hospitals SAINT NICHOLAS from Varazdin, clinics ARITHERA from Zagreb, Special Hospital DARUVAR SPA from Daruvar, Clinic DENTAL CENTER B2 from Zagreb, as well as travel agency ATLANTIS TRAVEL.

A large number of visitors

“We are extremely pleased with the great interest of Russian travel agencies specialized in health tourism for Croatian health tourism services, as well as the overall preparation of workshops. We believe that, by continuing of joint support of representatives of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce and the Croatian Tourist Board in Moscow, successful promotion of Croatian health tourism and further growth of the number of tourist arrivals from the territory of the Russian Federation, will continue”, said Marcel Medak, President of the Community Health Tourism in the CCC.

After performing at the workshop, followed performance at the fair for medical tourism MoscowMedshow. The fair has recorded an extremely large number of visitors and direct demand for the services of health tourism. Especially in the Kvarner region where, despite the decline of tourist arrivals from Russia, has been recorded an increase in the number of overnight stays by three percent compared to 2013.
