Masterpieces from the Hermitage are brought from Russia to Zagreb
In April Gallery Klovicevi Dvori opens a central exhibition in Zagreb. The exhibition is devoted to “Catherine the Great, Empress of the Russian Empire”of the famous museum the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. It will last until August 1, 2018 year.
The exhibition will feature more than a thousand exhibits that narrate the life and arrival of Catherine the Great to Russia and to the throne. Visitors will be able to “feel the Empress’s love for art, which led to the acquisition of many collections and the creation of the Hermitage.” The exhibition will feature portraits, paintings of European schools, sculptures, garments, art crafts, medals, weapons, furniture and jewellery.
For Catherine the Great the collection of precious stones was very important as she liked to collect it very much. As stated: “At the exhibition in the Hall of the Klovichevi Dvori Gallery will be presented the reign of one of the most powerful women in history, the Empress Catherine II.”
