POPULARITY OF CROATIA GROWS AMONG TOURISTS FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES

Four cities of Croatia are among the 20 most visited and Split is in second place.

“The online reservation system Booking.com which hosts 550 000 accommodation facilities in 218 countries has awarded almost 25 000 properties in Croatia with the “Guest Review Award 2017″, so Croatia has entered the top 10 awarded countries,” – on Thursday reported the representatives of Croatian Booking.com office.

“Croatia ranks second after Italy among the countries with the highest ratings according to the guests’ reviews, while Split, Zadar, Dubrovnik and Zagreb are among the 20 most prestigious cities in the world,” say representatives of Booking.com.

The annual awards of reservation system Booking.com are based on reviews and ratings of guests from around the world who have booked and stayed in accommodation units using this system. Last year there were 140 million reviews based on which 500 000 accommodation facilities got its awards.

In addition to the fact that Croatia is in second place among the countries with high ratings, it also ranks sixth in the number of won awards.

As indicated, the first place was taken by Italy – up to 81,6 thousand objects, France took the second place with 33,5 thousand awarded objects, and the third place was occupied by the USA – 30,5 thousand objects. Spain with 29,6 thousand award-winning objects and Germany-with 26 thousand object surpass Croatia. After Croatia are placed accommodation facilities in the UK, Poland, Russia and Greece.

In Croatia the awards got 24,395 objects of all types of accommodation with a total average rating of 9 points, while 243 objects had the highest rating of 10 points. Among the 20 best cities in the world Split ranks second, right after Rome, and Zadar and Dubrovnik occupy 9th and 10th place, while Zagreb – 19th place.

“In accordance with the number of awards in 2017 year Croatia has moved from ninth to sixth place, which also indicates its growing popularity. The awards are based on reviews of guests and their true experience, so we believe that it can also help in the work of the owners of accommodation facilities, “- report the representativs of Booking.com.

It is also noted that in 2017 year for the very first time the apartments were ranked as the most attractive type of accommodation surpassing accommodation in hotels. It is 30 percent of all award-winning properties in the world, and according to the number of awards after apartments and hotels are placed holiday homes, accommodation units with bed and breakfast service, as well as cottages.

“The growing interest of travelers is also confirmed by the recent survey of Booking.com, where 19,000 travelers from 26 countries, according to which one of three people or 33 percent have stated that they would prefer accommodation in the private sector, rather than at the hotel in 2018 year. In addition, every fifth person or 21 percent of tourists say that in 2018 year they would like to post their own house on the page of the online reservation system,” – say representatives of Booking.com.

As already noted, in order to win an award, the objects must have an average score of 8 points or more, based on at least five guest ratings by the end of October. Cleanliness, convenience, location, equipment, personnel and value for money are evaluated, and as all reviews are never edited or changed in any way, tourists can be sure that they will read authentic reviews about the real experience of tourists in accommodation facilities.
