Report of the European Commission for Tourism: Russian tourists in the first quarter of 2015 have decreased by 30%
The number of tourist arrivals from Russia to Europe in 1st quarter of 2015 has decreased by 30% compared to the same period in 2014, according to a report of the European Travel Commission.
According to the report, most of the European destinations suffer from shortage of Russian tourists. The only exceptions are Montenegro and Romania. A small number of arrivals and overnight stays from Russia experts associate with the complex geopolitical and economic situation.
The report points out that Russia is one of the major markets for Europe. Next couple of months will indicate whether the inflow of Russian tourist will stabilize or not. The experts of Eurocommission assume that the decline in tourist arrivals will continue due to fluctuations exchange rate of the ruble, oil prices and the complex political situation.
Regardless of the decline in tourist arrivals from Russia, most of European destinations has positive indicators for the first three months of 2015. Expert say that reduction in value of euro has led to the growth of tourist arrivals in European countries from the United States.
Most significant growth of international tour arrivals was registered in Spain (+31,4%), Croatia (+24,6%), Montenegro (+23,2%), Romania (+13,1%), Hungary (+12,1%), Slovenia (+11,7%), Austria (+11,4%) and Serbia (+11%).
