Passport control planned during the Estonian-Russian train travel

Railway connections between Estonia and Russia could be much faster. If they fulfil their promise, from next year boarder control and customs procedures will be done „in movement“

At the end of last month, Estonian and Russian authorities in Moscow agreed to create working group whose aim is development of system in which the train which provide from Tallinn to Moscow and Petrograd will not have to stop on the boarder, but the passport control will be done during the travelling.

Officials and railway operators for some time talk about these reforms. Now, Rando Kruusma, deputy of director of boarder questions in Ministry of interior affairs, says that the new law is in preparation, and authorities are planning to adopt it this year.

Estimates on time which can be saved and sped up when the passport control and customs control would be done during the drive of half an hour to few hours.
