Aeroflot introduces new low-cost airline – Dobrolet
Aeroflot Group establishes low cost plane company Dobrolet. Originally, it was the name of joint-stock company established in 1923, predecessor of present Aeroflot.
Dobrolet will be based inMoscow’s region. Fleet will consist of Boeing 737-800 NG in configuration of one class. It is supposed that low-cost transporter will start with work in spring of year 2014.In the first phase planes will fly on the most popular destinations in European parts ofRussia.
Cutting down on expenses up to 40% compared to “traditional” transporters will be accomplished in few ways. Some of them are: increase in seat numbers in plane traveling cabin, by decrease in space between seats and fix backrest; with only direct ticket sale, additional charge for seat comfort, submitted baggage, boarding priority and meals with the possibility of order and sale of extra service on-line on web page of company.
JSC “Aeroflot” has 100% shares in new company. Estimate for invests in project is around 100 million dollars during first two years. Plane company will work with 8 planes in launching year, and it plans to increase fleet with average of eight planes a year. Vladimir Gorbunov was named as general manager of Dobrolet.
“Low-cost transporter inRussiawill not live if we don’t harmonize our legislative with existent standards of global industry, such as non-refundable tickets, baggage with compensation, possibility to hire foreign pilots, first of all to cut down the lack of plane captains. We expect that certain law decisions will be taken till the end of this year. Doing that, government will help in starting of project of great importance for Russia.”, said by general director of Aeroflot CEO Vitalij Saveliev.
